License violation for practicing in a different state

More details to this question:
Landloard is using his daughter n law for legal issues. She is a practicing attorney licensed for New York. The landlord and I are in the state of florida. The issue is a security deposit he is attempting to keep and threatening to charge me for his attorney fees as well, if I take him to court and do not win. He is claiming 600.00 in attorney fees to date due to 2 emails the attorney advised him on. Please advise.

This is simply a risk you will take under Fla. Stat. 83.48 and the COURT not the litigants determines whether the fees claimed are compensible.
