QUESTION

Sue my divorce attorney

Asked on Dec 24th, 2011 on Legal Malpractice - North Carolina
More details to this question:
I reside in NC and hired an attorney to represent me in a divorce action. While she was representing me her license was suspended for not taking her continuing ed, she showed up at mediation without the case file, no cell phone, no computer and without the knowledge that my former spouse had slept with dozens of prostitutes, even though I had told her on numerous occasions. She lied to me, failed to inform me about the importance of being identified as a dependent spouse (even though I asked her) and missed meetings. She failed to tell me about an offer from the opposing side until after the deadline. She failed to follow my direction to file a motion to show cause for contempt, having me verify that payments were not made to the IRS over 5 times in a month. I could go on and on. I wish to sue her. How do I find an attorney?

You could have a claim for legal malpractice.  You need to speak with a litigator with some experience in this area in order to make a final determination.  You also may want to report your lawyer to the North Carolina Bar.  I am sorry to hear that your experience with this lawyer was so bad.  Good luck going forward.
