QUESTION

Appealing a small claims ruling

Asked on May 25th, 2016 on Civil Litigation - New York
More details to this question:
Had a case ruled against me because I missed the court date (an hour late as the case was postponed). Small claims, have the $5000 for "escrow" to appeal. Have a very strong case;I'm auto shop owner who was sued for allegedly using used parts on a collision repair. Have all receipts indicating otherwise. Was given partial payment in a check that had a stop payment put on it the next day. What type of lawyer should I consult?

You do not appeal.  You move to vacate the judgment and restore the case based on being late.  Do this ASAP.  You cannot appeal, as the record is against you.  You need a new trial so you can present your case.
