I am also a teacher. i run all our schools PTA's, Booster Club, etc. We are OVERLY involved and raise thousands of dollars for all the schools. I am tired of the school not doing "THEIR JOB." Teachers have made comments to my daughter and talked about her problems to other students. We all sign directives as teachers and I know that this violates our contract to talk about students with other students. Our daughter also has Type 1 diabetes and has testing accommodations. On more than one occasion, they did not have it set up for her accommodations and I know this also violates her 504 plan. Please understand Mark that you are talking to two strong and amazing parents. And I am an amazing teacher. I just find it time to also hold others to my standards and what we are bound to do by contract. Do I have right to sue?
Strong and amazing parents or being an amazing teacher is simply not the standard here. Anytime you expect to sue an governmental entity to make them do "thier job" and hold to them to a self aggrandzied standard of "amazing", you can expect there to be a great deal of dissention and controversy. All this translating into an exhorbitant amount of money spent on legal fees and expenses committed to that fight. If you have the resources to spend tens of thousands of dollars in such an endeavor then you simply need to retain counsel and get to it, knowing however, that such cases are extremely high risk and very expensive. Otherwise, you will have to pick and choose your fights or find other means of dispute resolution on such issues.
