banking error

Asked on Nov 10th, 2014 on Civil Litigation - Maryland
More details to this question:
While closing an savings account to a bank of mine I was also cashing a check, the teller caused the check but also deposited it giving me an extra 231 dollars which was paid to me once I closed the account that day. They called me a few hours after I had already deposited the money in my new bank, am I legally obligated to give the money back to them?

Yes, you are.  You are not legally entitled to retain funds provided to you in error by a bank.
