QUESTION

Can a misdemeanor shoplifting theft charge in Texas be expunged?

Asked on Sep 03rd, 2012 on Litigation - Texas
More details to this question:
I'm asking this question for my son 19 years old. He has a misdemeanor shopping theft from a grocery store (steaks). When he was arrested he only had to pay the ticket charge and then released. This was bad judgement on his part, anyway....he's been trying to get work but this charge is holding him back when a background check is done. Is there anyway that this small charge can be expunged? The ticket charge was only $200 and the theft was for some steaks.

A conviction can never be expunged. If he successfully completed deferred adjudication, then that could be sealed. But convictions can never be removed or sealed. Unless you know Rick Perry and he can get a pardon.
