As far as I know they can. I'm not sure what a retail hall is. It may depend on what business they are in. Regulations exist that prevent banks and medical clinics from releasing certain information. However, I know of no laws requiring retail businesses to protect customer information.
Unless there was something in the contract that states that it is to be held confidential, they can disclose it. It seems like an odd thing to do, business-wise as it could alienate one's own customers, but there is nothing illegal or tortious about it.
