QUESTION

Can I be arrested for not reporting verbal abuse that I didn't actually hear?

Asked on Dec 11th, 2012 on Litigation - Florida
More details to this question:
I was working as a substitute bus aide on a school bus. There was also a regular aide working as well, who was verbally abusing a child while I was there. I didn't hear any of this abuse, but was terminated for not reporting it. I was told it "looked like" I had heard it on the video of the incident. I was also told that child protective services may be getting in touch with me.

Probably not. If you did not witness anything, someone else might be saying that you did. You can be held in contempt of court for failing to obey a subpoena. If you are subpoenaed, you must appear in court.
