QUESTION

Can I bring suit against a sheriffs department for wrongful injury?

Asked on Jul 31st, 2018 on Civil Litigation - Indiana
More details to this question:
While in the county jail , a fellow inmate blew out the lights early in the day in an attempt to start fire for random reasons. the officers were aware the lights did not work. Once it was dark(completely dark) the same inmate ambushed and attacked me in a cell. I reported the incident as soon as possible and went to the hospital . pictures were also taken. there is alot more to the story and i have documents it all. I believe there is a viable suit.

It's very difficult to succeed in a suit against a public entity such as the Sherriff's department because they have immunity if you're found to be evern 1% at fault for the injuries. You have a case, but it'll be difficult and take an extensive amount of time.
