QUESTION

Can I file something on someone who didn't fully pay for something that we agreed on?

Asked on Apr 15th, 2017 on Civil Litigation - Iowa
More details to this question:
A friend of mine agreed to buy an item from me. I trusted this person and let them try it before paying. This person paid for about 1/4 of the price agreed, then sold the item to someone else. When I bothered them about the item, they told me that they didn't plan to pay me the remaining amount. Is there anything I can do to get back what the items were worth? The total of everything I sold him was nearly $1,000.

You would sue this person for breach of contract and/or conversion of your property.  You also may be able to have the person arrested and charged with some form of theft/larceny.
