QUESTION

Can I sue my parents?

Asked on Jul 30th, 2017 on Civil Litigation - Tennessee
More details to this question:
My parents used my credit when I turned 18 to get cable and utilities in the household, I knew about the cable but not about the utilities, but they didn't pay them off according to my credit report. I now am renting a room in their house, they are renting from a landlord and I pay my parents rent for the room I'm staying in with my boyfriend, but they are threatening to kick me out because "they don't like my attitude." I started looking for places and checked my credit and realized that there are about $3000 worth of bills that aren't mine. These negative marks on my credit are making it hard for me to get a place and I don't know what to do. My parents said that they paid this stuff off and that they have the bills to prove it, but they never showed me the bills. I have no access to these bills and therefor, also shows that it wasn't even done by me. I never signed for the utilities and I signed for the cable because I trusted my parents. What should I do?

This is not a legal question that you are asking but one about parent-child relationship. However, I would suggest that you close out the credit card, contact the utilities company and cancel the service. Move out onto your own, work to pay off the credit card.
