QUESTION

Can I sue our telephone company for distress?

Asked on Aug 24th, 2014 on Litigation - New York
More details to this question:
On August 22nd a truck going down our street ripped the telephone line from the pole and our house. It was hanging below the legal height precribed by law. this left us without the ability to use our phone and especially 911. My spouse and I are senior citizens and could at any time require 911 service. Without the service valuable time could be lost in trying to contact help for medical assistance anc could be the difference between life and death. This has been very stressful because our telephone company, Windstream, told us that they would not be able to make the repair until Monday, August 25th by 7 pm.
