QUESTION

Can I sue someone for misrepresenting themselves as a non profit organization?

Asked on Sep 12th, 2015 on Civil Litigation - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
I adopted a dog from Paula's Dog House in NJ; a supposed 301c3 non profit. The rescue isn't listed on irs.gov. The dog that I paid $350.00 is medically flawed; none of which was disclosed to me at the time of adoption. The medical records I was given weren't accurate. The behavior of the "Paula" & her 'assistant' the day of the adoption were questionable, almost as if they were intentionally trying to hide certain abnormalities about the dog from me. I feel that the contract is null & void because of misrepresentation from Paula's Dog House. I want to know if I can sue for my 350.00 adoption fee plus medical expenses that the dog has endured & any other fees I could be entitled to. A person who sells sick dogs under the guise of a non profit should be held accountable for.

Since you bought the dog in New Jersey, you need to consult with an attorney from that state.
