can i sue the man who shot me in the back

More details to this question:
a man shot me in the back and was found guilty of assulat and battery with a deadly weapon w/ substantial bodliy harm and recived only 5 years probation and restitution to the hospital. i had to have two surgerys and lost a kidney part of my pancreus and part of my intestines have now i have a huge scar down the center of my body

The answer is that you can bring an action against the person who shot you in the back.  Two elements that you may wish to consider in bringing your claims.  The statute of limitations for bodily injuries is two (2) years from the date of the act. NRS 11.190(4)(e).  The only issue which you should be cognizant of is that the act of shooting you in the back was likely an intentional act and not covered by any insurance which the criminal may have held.
