I was a board member of an origanization and a remodel was wanted for the building the organization resided in. I submitted a estimate and it was Ok'd by the members and was reflected as such at that meeting recorded in the minutes. Before the job was completed, a new board was put into place. When the job was completed, I submitted all receipts as required and the new board has refused to pay me. It is a significant amount of money, over 5,000.00. I went to them several times to see if we could work something out and again was refused payment of any kind. I realize I should have gotten a written contract, but didnt. Can I still take them to court?
Are you to late to record a mechanic's Lien?
Yes, you can take them to Court, hopefully some of your board members will testify on your behalf that the board entered into a contract with you.
Good Luck!
