QUESTION

Can someone sue on my behalf without my knowledge; Isnt this fraud?

Asked on Jul 01st, 2016 on Civil Litigation - Michigan
More details to this question:
I was in an car accident when I was a minor; and was recently informed that my ex-stepmother filed a lawsuit against the insurance company which she named me in. She ended up winning the case and neither my mother or myself were informed. I did some research and confirmed that the information given to me was accurate. In the accident I ended up with several injuries which included a head injury, back injury, broken clavicle ect. What I'm trying to figure out is exactly what my options are at this point in holding her accountable for her actions. Please help. Thank you for your time. I'm currently going into my first year of law school and unfortunately don't have much money to run out and pat an attorney otherwise I would.

You certainly have the right to sue her if she did not use the money for your benefit, assuming that you just found out about it. DO NOT WAIT. Get a lawyer NOW. The time you have to go after her may be expiring. Good Luck.
