QUESTION

Criminal Mischief to my legally parked Vehicle

Asked on Dec 27th, 2017 on Civil Litigation - New York
More details to this question:
Hello I rent a parking spot with a monthly charge, Vehicle was parked in the assigned Spot when a wooden chair was thrown landing on the hood of my vehicle requiring its replacement in the amount of 1,400, to which I had to pay an insurance deductible of 500.00 Chair is assued to have been thrown of an adjacent multi dwelling building - owned and operated by the entity that rents my parking spot. Surveillance cameras were operational but No one in charge knew how to operate the surveillance system, and the main gate that required a electronic Key to open was fully up, allowing anyone from outside the street to enter the parking area. I feel victimized when I contacted the management office by phone, was told, I take a risk parking my vehicle in the spot which was noted to be a Ghetto? This to me is blatant negligence from the Management in control of the parking lot and want compensation for my loss and time required to get my vehicle repaired.
