QUESTION

Debt Collection for a Home Foreclosed On

Asked on Aug 16th, 2017 on Civil Litigation - Michigan
More details to this question:
Was divorced in 2007, home was awarded to ex husband by the judge and was told to refinance home out of my name, he let the home foreclose, now I am getting called from a debt collector for the loan. Does the divorce decree protect me? What is the statue of limitations? What are my options? Ex husband thinks the last payment made on the home was sometime in 2009.

I am afraid that you are on  the hook to the mortgage company. You may be able to get your ex to pay you back, with possible help from the divorce court, but, between you and the mortgage company, you owe the shortfall. Sorry.
