More details to this question:
Note dated September 2004 for $15k, now is saying he will only pay $842 to pay off principle balance. Interest accruing since date of Note. What recourse do I have?

You could sue to obtain a Judgment for the princple plus interest and possbibly costs of the suit. You may want to take the note to an attorney to evaluate your options prior to accepting such a low payoff.
