QUESTION

Do I have a case?

Asked on Jun 08th, 2017 on Civil Litigation - Florida
More details to this question:
My boyfriend was pulled over in my car a couple months ago and they pulled him over because they ran my plate and said it went to nothing they gave him a citation for wrong tag not assigned and issued a court date. I bought my car from a dealership over two years ago and never knew the plate to my registration didn't match they ended up sending me a new plate and registration but on my end we are still dealing with the courts for the citation my boyfriend missed the court date because it got mailed to an address he no longer lives at and they issued a warrant we tried to take care of the warrant for about a month but it had not posted yet and he got pulled over and arrested for that warrant. I had to bond him out and we are still awaiting a new court date as well as he has missed a few days of work trying to get things in order with a citation. My question is all this could have been avoided if the dealership would have put the right plate on my car at the time of purchase

Um....yeaaahhh. This who story is filled with "wha ha happen wuz" stories and those rarely if ever pan out under scrutiny. First and formost is the HUGE disconnect with " I bought a car two years ago" and some how you have a metal tag on the car that didn't match the plate. Except for the fact that delaerships don't issue metal plates to start, they come from DMV and when the plates are renewed every year, the registration and validation sticker shows the TAG # directly. Not seeing any type of legal case here from the issues described given all the disconnected facts and issues. You need to get that car properly registered ASAP.
