QUESTION

Do I have a reasonable case here?

Asked on Feb 20th, 2021 on Civil Litigation - Florida
More details to this question:
Okay I don't know what category of a case this could be but here is my situation. December 2019 I was living with a good friend of mine, a couple. I was filing my taxes with TurboTax and my one friend said she would help me do them. I was about to get my refund as a check but my other friend (their a couple) said that I would get my refund faster if I did it through his direct deposit and I had reservations but he insisted and he was a good friend so I trusted him and we did that and I got my tax refund from him. Then the pandemic happens, so I'm waiting for a check from the IRS for my economic impact payment like the website told me. Months later I find out that my payment went to the direct deposit information on my 2019 tax return, my friends direct deposit, which I had no idea that it would do that the IRS told me to wait for my check. So I confronted him, he wanted to act like he had no idea about until the IRS told him that it was my money. He is now refusing to pay me back.

There is no real viable case here due to the value. You might want to contact the IRS and law enforcement for theft. Otherwise for $600.00-$1000.00 you will spend the money trying to get the money.
