QUESTION

Do I have any privacy rights in a private suite of a building?

Asked on Apr 12th, 2021 on Civil Litigation - Ohio
More details to this question:
I work in a suite by myself. The tenant above my office has been video taping and inviting people to watch me while I do extremely confidential work (payroll, bank statements, sales, etc). The president of the company for which I'm employed rarely is in the office when I'm at work. They do not feel it's possible for me to be watched, but I hear the discussions and everyone in suite's around me discuss the images as well. It is also of my opinion, based upon conversations overheard through the old ventilation system, that these people captured me in the private bathroom of our offices and sold them on the Dark Web (per their comments . I contacted the l9cal police when I found out but they scolded me for not calling them from my office. Had I called from my office, the person would just have shut the portals they use before the police arrived. They've told many visitors to their viewing times that a court order would have to be in place in order for our people to see her camert

You do have some privacy rights, even more so in a restroom.  I'm not sure why law enforcement did not pursue the issue.  You may want to follow up with them or contact another law enforcement agency with concurrent jurisdiction (city & county, e.g.).  It sounds like you may be well served by hiring an attorney to assist you with this matter.   Best of luck.
