QUESTION

Does the defendant have to consent to a plaintiff dropping a litigation?

Asked on Jun 04th, 2015 on Litigation - New York
More details to this question:
I was the Plaintiff in a court hearing requesting the judge to appoint a Receivership on a property I own with a partner. The Receivership was denied and the judge set a conference date with all parties. If I wish to drop the litigation, does the other party have to consent? I see no point in going forward . I feel that nature should take its course. Both parties agree to sell the property but have never agreed on terms. I can wait it out. I want to stop this very expensive process.
