More details to this question:
I know someone who was convicted of a non-violent felony over 24 years ago in New Jersey. After the conviction their weapons were not confiscated. This person has had them in their possesion for all of this time and has now moved to Florida. The person wants to get rid of them but does not know how to do so leagally. Can they be given to a family member? Will they come up as registered in New Jersey still by a felon?

They can be given to a family member. It is a 15 year felony in Florida, and can be a 3 year minimum mandatory sentence. Why take the chance?
