Asked on Feb 03rd, 2017 on Civil Litigation - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
I purchased a motorcycle for ex fiance that verbally agreed to pay on monthly. He then took it upon himself to have the bike customized to his likeing. fast forward to now, we broke up and now he is taking me to small claims to sue for the money he put into the bike because I sold the bike back to the dealer as I dont want to be financially responsible for it. I offered to sell him the bike but he doesnt have the funds. Does he have legal ground?

These types of cases after a relationship break-up don't often go very far but I suppose his theory might be that if the improvements he paid for resulted in you receiving more money from the dealership than you would have if you sold the bike without the improvements, you should not be able to keep the money and not contribute to the cost of improvements.  Your response is that he was a "volunteer" and spent the money at his own risk without any promise from you to contribute to the costs.
