QUESTION

How do I find out if someone is trying to serve me papers?

Asked on Aug 03rd, 2013 on Litigation - Florida
More details to this question:
I received a text message from a friend saying that someone showed up at their house (which is my former residence) looking for me by full name. How can I find out if someone is trying to serve me for whatever reason or not? Because if this person was NOT of an official status, my safety could be in jeopardy.

Its difficult to be accurate as lawsuits can be filed so many places, but served on you at home. I would start with an onine search of your county clerk where you reside. If its a criminal issue, its likely the local sheriff. If its a hoax and someone pretending to be a LEO or server to collect a debt, its illegal, call our office at 1-800=922=6442.
