How do I find past employment history on a city official?

More details to this question:
I have already paid money for a background check, all it tells me is nothing is available. How do I find out a background and past employment on a city official?

Why would that not be in the city clerks office. why would his credentials not have been discussed when he was hired.if they keep this confidential as a personnel matter there is not much to be done if your investigator says he cant find anything.

Contact the City Attorney's office and ask for it. If that doesn't work file a Freedom of Information request.

You can have the applicant sign a "social security release" form and then the Social Security Administration will give a detail of his past earnings and from past employers. However, the info. from the SSA will not reveal income not disclosed or jobs which paid cash but undeclared. But if the applicant will not sign such a release, then you cannot get this info.

The only way that I know is to make a request to the city pursuant to the freedom of information act for any document that gives the employment history of the official. However, they may not have such a document, or they may say that it is exempt from the FOIA. There are some "people finder" data bases, such as Intelius, that contain background information including former addresses and perhaps former employers.
