Asked on Oct 10th, 2011 on Civil Litigation - Texas
More details to this question:
A person broke into my home and stole items from me of a very personal nature (photographs, etc.) He spoke untruly of me and spread rumors about me, as well. We went to the police and he was arrested, but I would like to persue a civil suit against him, as well. What exactly should I file and what is the statute of limitations for such?

there many causes of actions to file, and you should consult with a lawyer on this matter.  Nevertheless and generally, tort actions have a 2 years statute of limitations in Texas.  Hope this helps.
