How long do i have to keep someones property before i can get rid of it

More details to this question:
My ex left almost 5 months ago and after being gone 2 months he thought he could walk into my house and take things a officer told him he had to take me to civil court and that was in april and it is now july

Why not package the stuff and take it over to him? Otherwise, send him a certified (and regular) letter and mail it to him giving him 60 days advance written notice that if they don't come by and pick up their remaining items you are going to make arrangements to have the items junked. Make sure you keep a copy of the letter.
