QUESTION

How long do I have to keep someone's stuff before it is considered abandoned?

Asked on Feb 23rd, 2013 on Litigation - Utah
More details to this question:
In December of 2012, I was granted a restraining order against my ex-boyfriend. In January of 2013, the court extended my restraining order for one month and the judge told me my ex needs a third party to get his stuff. He came the day the restraining order expired to get 70 percent of his belongings. It has been a month since that happened and I have not heard from him. How long do I have to hold on to his things?

I would send him a letter telling him to get his stuff or it would be put out to the street.

Check your states statute, but in Utah the time limit is 30 days, and then you have to give written notice that you are going to sell the property.
