QUESTION

How long will it take to get a ruling from California Superior Court?

Asked on Feb 08th, 2012 on Civil Litigation - California
More details to this question:
I am the defendant in a Civil Case tried without a jury at the beginning of January in Santa Monica California Superior Court. It was a 2 day trial and at the end the judge requested post trial briefs from both parties and then a final reply from the plaintiff. the reply was filed February 06, 2011. What kind of timeline might we anticipate to get a ruling? a month? a year? will it come by mail? If I lose, how long before the plaintiff can enforce a judgement? What will my options be at that point? Can I appeal?

You should get a ruling 90 days from the time the last papers were submitted.  You should be notified that the judgment is entered by mail; you probably will get a copy as well.  If not, go to the Clerk's office.  If you don't like the judgment, you can move for reconsideration or file a Notice of Appeal.  Good luck.
