how to fire my lawyer before litigation begins?

More details to this question:
I was recently with a lawyer firm and they transferred my case to another law office for litigation I am honestly fed up with the lack of communication. how can I fire this lawyer before litigation begins and they start working on my case ? and will I owe this law office money if I fire then now before they file suit?

Fire them by saying, preferably in writing, "You're fired.  I don't want you to do any more work on my case."  Or words to that effect.  Of course, you will have to pay them for the work they do before you fire them.
