I was declared indigent by a civil court during a proceeding that I was found to be liable for $54,000. That was 5 years ago, and now the plaintiff is trying to take my assets as a means of settling that judgment. If I make an offer (being that I am still indigent) do they have 10 days to accept, and if they do not, does the judgment become null and void?
I have never heard of anyone being declared indigent in a civil court. Once a judgment is rendered against you, it is good for ten years but can be renewed. The only way to discharge a debt is in bankruptcy.
