If I only have a verbal agreement, is it still possible to win a case for executive and administrative services rendered?

More details to this question:
I helped my boyfriend to assist with communicating with RE/MAX in honduras. Assisting with him getting his paperwork straight for 2 lots he had purchased in Apr 2019. We became friends in Nov 2019, and he asked for my assistance in Feb 2020. He agreed to pay me, but did not specify the amount until I pressed him about it several times. He finally agreed to pay me $20/hr for my services. I only received $200 on 22 Aug 20. Our agreement was $2,000 max., which he agreed to pay on $900 on 15 Oct 20 and the final payment of $900 on 29 Oct 20. He did not honor his agreement for the $1,800.
