QUESTION

Is it a reasonable case and if so what would I actually be entitled to?

About 6 months ago I had a gun, $ 250cash,set of Nikkon binoculars stolen during a day I had previously parked my truck at local IGA Plaza parking lot..well it was nighttime when I returned from a day at work ,so I called the next day and reported everything stolen..At the time I first called I gave detective the serial number of my gun..also my fiance called and they said a special ace unit had since took over my case, so she then gave another officer my gun serial number..well about 2 weeks ago I went to local pd to get a police report to get a police report,and I discovered that neither officer had reported my gun as stolen to the nci stolen gun data base..I told officer then what the situation was so she called officer and he pretty much said he cudnt remember why he never reported it..honestly I believe it was a personal and conscience decision to not file the gun stolen.This was very upsetting to know my gun could've been used in the commission of a crime ,plus many other lia

Monetary damages are an element in almost every civil cause of action, including any claim that I can see arising from this situation.  From what you've written, you have none, therefore I don't think you have a valid claim.  In addition, as you would be suing the government there are sovereign immunity issues.  Sovereign immunity limits the claims you can assert against a government entity, the time period in which you can assert a claim, and mandates strict procedures which must be followed to assert a claim.
