Is it illegal to have a cup in your attic bedroom?

My mom's friend always yells at me and acts as if itโ€™s a big deal to have a drink upstairs, I want to know, Am I breaking some kind of law I didn't know about?

You are not breaking any law I know about. It may or not be a wise idea, but it certainly does not appear to be illegal. You might want to double check with the housing or zoning office in your county courthouse, but it would be a most unusual rule.
