I’s it too late to sue?

More details to this question:
Hello, I was a victim in domestic violence in November, 2018. Police were called, i went to the hospital, he went to jail for one night. The court is still ongoing since, next one is March 17,2020. The judge keeps pushing it out but all he needs to do now is close the case from what I heard. The DA let me know he served community service hours, including anger management classes. However, my problem is that the victim compensation program did not cover my hospital bill that is over $1k because I am under my dads insurance and the bill came under his name. My dad is now in collections. I don’t feel as I should pay this, I already lost the deposit in the home we used to rent , and still paying off loans that he had convinced me to get while in that relationship. I hope there is something I can do. I know it’s been over a year.. Thank you for your time.

The California statute of limitations for assault is 2 years.  However, you should e aware that to the extent that your dad's (or any insurance) paid any of the costs incurred as a result of the assault, the insurance company will be repaid from any recovery you receive.
