QUESTION

Is there a statute of limitations on being subpoenaed?

Asked on Jun 27th, 2013 on Litigation - Florida
More details to this question:
I am an MD, and practiced in Florida until 2003, then relocated to Florida. I recently got a call from a law firm in Florida, requesting my deposition on a patient. No other details given, and I have not had any other contact from the patient or the firm, so I don't know what the depo is about. Am I obliged to call them back, and is it possible that it's too late for them to subpoena me to give a deposition?

When you get a subpoena and you do not respond to it you can be held in contempt of court. You might want to call and find out what it is all about. Surely, if you were being sued you would know about it. That is why you have malpractice insurance.
