QUESTION

I've been blacklisted from retail via the ESTEEM database, do I have recourse?

Asked on Dec 11th, 2013 on Civil Litigation - New Jersey
More details to this question:
Simply, I had been given a paycheck by my manager that wasn't mine, and accidentally cashed it. The manager was upset with me at the time, and I suspect it might have been intentional. I signed my name on the paycheck underneath the other person's and I cashed it with a bank teller, who also did not notice the discrepancy. I was forced to sign a statement in which I admitted "unwittingly taking" the check, but not stealing it, which was true. This statement is now being used against me in a database that blacklists prospective employees from employment, and I've since been unable to find a job. Any help would be appreciated.

I hitnkl you have posted this question on another bulletin board.  Consult with a lawyer near you to deal with this employment law and potential defamation claim.  The terms of your employment may also govern this situation.   How do you know that you are blacklisted?
