Asked on Oct 04th, 2019 on Civil Litigation - New York
More details to this question:
My family and I have had our lives threaten by an anonymous individual through Instagram. The individual posted my work address and also sent me photos of my children and wife. He also sent my wife nasty comments. One of the followers of this individual knows his identity. I asked him to reveal his identity and he refused. Is it possible to sue him?

Go to the police.  Anybody can sue anybody, but I don’t really think you have a good civil claim.  In any event it will take forever and is far less coercive than the police and the threat of criminal proceedings. Go to the police.
