My child, the victim of harrassment due to his disability today from school due to inadequte follow-up on several reports of my concern that a paticular student is bullying him. Jacob is his target & he is persistently harrassing him due to Jacob's disabilities that make different.
I have contacted the school several times this year of my concerns that Jacob is a target of a bully with one instance of threatening my child's life. The manner in which they handled the situation in a less than disceet way made things worse on Jacob & set Jacob up for more ridicule from more of his class. A partcular teacher I feel was acting in a retalitory manner because I had early in the year reported him for possible disminiation which was with via verbal reprimand. He took his opportunity to publically humiliate & made a bullying situation worse. The perputrator nor school personnel are being held accountable for their lack of prudence in dealing with the original reports of harrassment. I took Jacob to the ER after he was suspended for alleged terroristic threatening of the bully. The psych dept @ the children's hospital determined his was reacting to being bullied more specifically harrassment since the perputrator tagets Jacob's disabilities to isolate Jacob. What can we do to make sure the perputrator & school personnel are held accountable to protect & eliminate these acts from occurring & to clear my child's name & record of this offense that came about due to inadequate handling of the situation
The best suggestion I can give you is to contact an attorney who deals in special education issues. Unfortunately, these kinds of situations are fairly common, and the victim is often misclassified as part of the problem. You are not going to get a complete solution to this problem with a computer bulletin board. See an attorney.
