Non-Refundable Deposit Question

Asked on Jul 01st, 2019 on Civil Litigation - Ohio
More details to this question:
To book an appointment with my tattoo artist a deposit to secure the appointment (several hours blocked out) must be paid. I paid the $300 deposit on February 24th to secure my appointment for June 1st. On May 28th my tattoo artist posted on social media all his appointments for the next month were cancelled due to an auto accident he was involved in. I never received my deposit back, nor did he reach out to reschedule my appointment. I reached out on June 30th to receive my deposit back since no appointment was scheduled still and I no longer wanted this person doing my tattoo. He is now claiming that he is keeping my full deposit, even though nothing in our text conversations or on their website indicates that the deposit is non refundable. I politely explained to him that the deposit was paid to secure my appointment which he cancelled. It was not cancelled on my part. No new appointment was scheduled and he has not tried to reschedule with me. I’d like to get this back.
