I purchased a piece of equipment from a man in September 2011, we did an oral agreement, I gave him $3000 upfront and made payments as I could. He is now suing me on the grounds that I was suppose to pay it off in one year. He also wants interest and late charges, which we never discussed. What are my rights in this case?
You have a right to a fair trial. If not in small claims court, I strongly encourage you to hire a lawyer to represent you. Otherwise you will likely not get a just result.
