QUESTION
Real Estate Broker not paying Commission
Asked on Nov 15th, 2019 on Civil Litigation - New York
More details to this question:
I am a commission based real estate agent in New York. I had a listing for a commercial building, procured the buyer, and put the deal into contract.. My broker starts to tell me that the deal won't go through and that all my hard work will end up with zero commission for me. He then started threatening to release my real estate license. Long story short, my license was released on 10/29/2019 and I later find out that the sale did indeed go through and the closing was on 10/31/2019. Broker knew that the closing date was set for October 31, 2019 and released my license just before that date (October 29, 2019) in hopes that he can get away with not paying me my commission. Broker is refusing to pay me my commission. This broker is stealing my commission.

Depending on your contractual relationship with the broker, you may have claims. How much was the total commission? What percentage were you owed?
