QUESTION

Settlement agreements

Asked on Apr 09th, 2014 on Civil Litigation - Colorado
More details to this question:
I agreed to settle my case with my insurance company in court mediation with the judge and we agreed on an amount and the judge asked when payment would be made. The attorney for the insurance company said 2 weeks as the check would come to him from California. It has been beyond the 2 weeks and counsel is not returning calls or emails. The court issued an order that defendant would pay plaintiff the sum and plaintiff would sign releasing defendant of all claims past, present, or future. The court order also dismissed the case with prejudice but did not state a date for when payment must be made to me. Is there anything I can do?

From your description you have a Money Judgment.  Now you collect it.  I recommend giving the insurance company a few days but if you do not have payment soon you should contact an attorney to help you collect the Judgment.
