severed papers (being sued for an accident ) that my car was involved in.

Asked on Jul 27th, 2020 on Litigation - North Carolina
More details to this question:
My car was at the mechanic shop for repair shop to a fuel pump. The mechanic shop had his mechanic test drive my car and it was involved in an accident which was the mechanic fault. My insurance paid for my repairs and I had to pay the deductible for repairs. We were served papers that we are being sued for 10,000.00 by the owners insurance company. Confused to why we are being sued and not the driver or the mechanic shop owner. The mechanic shop is here in Concord and the driver wreck my car in Charlotte . Confused to why my car was in Charlotte for a test drive ?

First of all, notify your insurance company immediately.  Unless there is s omething unusual about your policy, it will provide you with an attorney.  Second, of course you are being sued; in an accident case especially, you sue everyone who could possbily be held liable, expecially anyone who has insurance coverage.  The plaintiff has nothign to lose by naming everyone he/she can.  That is why I am very surprised that the mechanic and repair shop aren't being sued as well, but you can cross-claim agiainst them when you answer the complaint.
