QUESTION

What am I facing after being charged with something that I am not really involved?

Asked on Sep 15th, 2013 on Litigation - Washington
More details to this question:
I was in a vehicle when the driver got stopped for speeding, then got searched without a warrant or a dog present. They found 1 gram of marijuana and a very small pipe. I was charged with possession and paraphernalia, so did the driver, even though it was clearly not mine and I had nothing to do with it. I am very concerned because I am only 18 years old , I am a security officer and I am joining the Marine Corps, this will seriously ruin my life ambitions. This is my first time ever getting into any sort of trouble and I would like to know if there is any possible way of getting this completely thrown off the table without going through the process of expunge.

You should get a lawyer and fight this. The State has to prove that you possessed the dope. You DO NOT HAVE TO PROVE INNOCENCE.

You should hire a lawyer and get this relatively minor charge dismissed.

You need to retain an attorney. If he cannot get the charge dropped, there may be a divergence program to enter.
