QUESTION

What are my rights as co-borrower?

Asked on Aug 04th, 2017 on Litigation - Tennessee
More details to this question:
Got approved with then boyfriend( currently an ex and wasn't married) for a FHA loan. I t was approved solely based on my income that was provided at the time. The verbal agreement was to refinance after a year. I have since gotten my name removed off the deed of the house not knowing that is was just for that. Fast forward to now, the loan is currently reflecting past due and he's tried to convince to tell the lender that I am currently living in the home and contributing to bills. I REFUSE TO DO SO He says this is the only way he will be able to refinance. It has to be another way. I left him a couple months after the home was closed on for domestic violence reasons. It's been 3 years now,and still been dragging the same old information. what are my rights as co-borrower?

I can not tell from your summary if the mortgage is still open or has been foreclosed on? If still open, then you are still liable on the mortgage until he gets it refinanced in his own name or it is foreclosed on. If closed and there is a deficiency, then you (and he) are liable for any deficiency.
