What can I do to get my items back from the pawn shop?

More details to this question:
My husband pawned my gold and it’s been about two years. I thought he pays the amount but he didn't. I told him to go and when he went they told him that it's been too long since he didn't go back on time that they don’t have them anymore. What can I do to get my things back?
