QUESTION

What kind of rights does a renter/tenant have?

Asked on Jul 28th, 2017 on Civil Litigation - Ohio
More details to this question:
My landlord was told we were moving in July. We were up to date on rent until then. We never received an eviction notice. My husband spoke to him and stated we were moving that month. He had a security deposit for July's rent. We moved some of our things in the middle of July, and went back on the 27th to finish, and my landlord had thrown all of our belongings away, or taken them for himself. My kitchen cupboards were full of all my dishes, pots and pans, mixers, everything. My sons clothes, my shoes, the list goes on. Our shed was also full of tools and mowing equipment, just to name a few things. He towed our 2 vehicles and our boat that were in the driveway to his land. I called the sherriff, but they claim it's a civil dispute. We lost so much, and he didn't even call to say come get our things.
